ELi5 Why can flys see you coming a mile off when you try to swat them…but they can never seem to find their way back out of an open door?

When i was catching live flies for a pet spider, i found that cupping a small transluscent plastic bag open end towards them and slowly moving in works very often.
Looks like fly swatting just got a whole lot more complicated. Maybe we should start using feather dusters instead?
The flies wanna be inside, not leave. They came in because they could smell/sense something they wanna eat.
However, they do -not- wanna get swatted so they use their senses to dodge it to the best of their abilities.
