Additionally, why can’t spam calls be automatically blocked, and why is nobody really doing a whole lot about it? It seems like this is a problem that they would have come up with a solution for by now.

It could be, but agencies like the FBI are too busy trying to manipulate social media to go do their real job.
I really wish you could report individual numbers for scam calls. Enough reports and the FTC shuts off the phone number (or blocks it nationally if it’s an international number).
So tired of the “sheriff’s office” calling me for donations so they can buy body armor. Fuck off scammer.
