Sorry if this was asked before, but is the only problem that it has a bigger carbon footprint to burn than gas?

Well, we *can*. Some places *do*. It’s just a very difficult process. Not super efficient and very unclean. Some plastics lens themselves to it better than others, but in general you need to have a really good way of filtering your exhaust. While this *is* an option for disposal of plastic, it is not super economical in most places when you can just throw the stuff out.
