Why do clouds sometimes look like they stay in one place but change shapes, sometimes look like they slowly drift by, and sometimes look like they’re moving very rapidly.
The air doesn’t all move at the same speed. If you’ve ever been in an airplane that had ‘clear air turbulence’ you’ve experienced this. Clouds are at different heights so that can affect their speed too.

Clouds move because of the wind. Wind speeds can vary, thus clouds move in different speeds to. Also, winds can blow in different speeds on different altitudes at the same time. Then some clouds will move faster than the others.
