When it’s cold, your body wants to keep you warm. It does that by tensing your muscles up which is also why we shiver.

Every single hair in your body has a little muscle under the skin that makes your hair stand on its ends and creates goosebumps.

When you’re cold or get the chills (your brain can’t tell the difference between the two), your body decides to help you feel warm again by telling those muscles to tense up and make your hair stand up.
