eli5 why do body parts take a few moments to wake up when they fall asleep instead of waking up instantly? also why do they feel so uncomfortable while waking up?
When a body part falls asleep, it’s mostly because a nerve is compressed and not sending signals. Once you change position and stop compressing the nerve it takes a little while to get up to speed again.
