Eli5 Why do coroners weigh people’s internal organs in an autopsy?

Is this just on tv? They always weigh the organs and the brain. Why? What can they possibly do with that information?

Organs whose weight is substantially out of proportion to the person’s body weight can indicate pathology. If a person’s brain weights substantially less than is normal for a person of that size, then this might inticate a degenerative brain disease. A liver or heart that weighs substantially more than normal may be fatty or enlarged due to alcoholism or heart disease, respectively.
