Low glucose levels alert your body to release two “need energy now” hormones, adrenaline and cortisol. Those hormones naturally raise blood sugar, so your body can continue to function even when blood sugar drops. But that flood of cortisol and adrenaline in the bloodstream keeps us on high alert to threats

I am rather famous in our family for needing to eat frequently. On one trip we were driving with our two kids past lunch time. My daughter, about 5 at the time, piped up from the back seat in a very concerned voice, “Mom I think we need to feed dad.”
