Because giving a few products away for free is much cheaper than paying for normal advertising and reaches way more people per dollar.

Give away one hair curler and you get like a million impressions and probably sell a hundred more. That’s a super bargain compared to ads.

because they have a large following that they can literally influence into buying something. a company will either send them a product for free in hopes that the influencer will like it enough to mention it to their followers, or the company sends the products for free *and* pays the influencer to mention it to their followers.

it is marketing and influencer marketing is very effective because it’s marketing that doesn’t really *feel* like marketing. often subscribers connect with their favorite influencer on what they feel is a personal level and consider that influencer to be a “friend.” we are more open to trusting suggestions from friends, especially when they haven’t told us that they are being paid for it*.

*it is against the law for an influencer to not disclose that with their viewers, but it is very tough to regulate.

Because they generate revenue for companies through advertising their products on their social media feeds, live videos, etc. That revenue they earn whatever company is 10,000x what they give these influencers so they get free shit in return

Basically just for advertising it. For example, I’ll agree to give you this bottle of shampoo for free as long as you tell all of your friends you use it and tell them to buy it too.

Because the one the give them the stuff thing they having them will result in other people paying for the stuff.

It is just marketing. Fundamental is a living advertised for the produce and influence the purchasing habit of the one that follows them.

For the one that gives it to that is it a very cheap form of advertisement if you just have to send them an item instead of paying someone to show an ad. Most consumer produce cost very little to make compared to ads so it can be profitable even if they relative few follow the,

For popular influences, the companies likey need to give them the item and money for them to use it. It can still be a very good idea as you can reach exactly the audience for your product.

All the above posts are petty much the idea behind it. I never found it to be true in practise, at least in the hospitality sector. You’d have these people with like 20-100k followers (probably a bunch that were bought).

They post a pretty simple story on their social media that includes far more than you’d get on a normal time with any hotel or restaurant, and mostly get a free weekend worth about $3000 dollars out if it. We’ve been bankrolling their extravagant lifestyle.
