Eli5: Why do jeans still have watch pockets?

Pocketwatches are cool.
To be more accurate, there are plenty of small things that can go into that pocket other than watches, and companies feel that redesigning pants to remove them will cost more than just keeping the extra bit of stuff.
Because they’ve always had them. And because it’s a good place to store loose change, or keep your earbuds. So why bother removing it?
Not Sure but Common Man, Pockets are pockets and they can be used for any thing that fits in them.
What is a watch pocket?
Back when I was a smoker, it made for a great lighter pocket. BICs and even Zippos fit in them perfectly.
I put cash in it when I have some, saves it falling out my pocket when I take out my phone.
Great for keys and also placing loose change in when your hands are full until you can free up your hands to transfer it to your wallet.
They ended up being the perfect size for most earpod cases. Entirely by accident, but I’m glad they kept them
Same reason why suit jackets have 2 buttons even though you only button one. It just the way things have been established in fashion.
