Hey everyone.. maybe this is a dumb question, but recently I’ve been wondering why people hate Mayo and say it’s so unhealthy!
Like isn’t it just.. eggs, oil, and seasoning?
Those are all things that to their own extents aren’t considered unhealthy when being looked individually, so why is it that when put together to create Mayo, they suddenly create something unhealthy?
I know Mayo is considered a fat, but I didn’t think it was THAT bad? And aren’t there healthy fats as well?

Mayo isn’t as bad for you as previously thought as neither the cholesterol in eggs nor the fats in oils (unsaturated fats) are as bad as previously thought. However, it’s a very energy dense food so you should eat very little of it.
It’s made from eggs and oil and neither of those are as bad for you as previously thought. However, mayo uses just the egg yolks which is quite cholesterol-dense, so it’s easy to eat more than you should (you shouldn’t eat more than an average of 1 egg per day. And definitely not in combination with foodstuffs that’s high in cholesterol and saturated fats, like bacon). The saturated fat part is because much of the LDL cholesterol in your blood comes from the liver (which turns saturated fats and transfats into cholesterol).
It’s not, but it’s high calorie and too many people conflate the two. Now for me, mayo isnt the best idea but that’s because my digestive system doesn’t do well with high fat foods anymore and I end up feeling really sick (oh do I miss fried food). But unless your body also struggles to properly digest fats, it’s fine in moderation.
