Eli5: why do people use the term Middle class instead of Working class?

Isn’t middle simply confusing?

Are we not working folks and wealthy-ruling folks that generate wealth via assets?

Because Society consists generally of Lower (Working) class, Middle Class (white collar workers) and so called upper class consisting of greedy fuckers with their head buried in the trough.

The distinction is simply separating workers who work with their hands versus workers who work with their brain.
