Eli5 Why do people with Downsyndrome look fatter?

I don’t know why I only just realised this but I’m curious if there is a scientific explanation for why people with syndrome of Down usually look slightly fatter?

Leptin is a hormone that contributes to appetite regulation and satiety. There is some data that show that individuals with Down syndrome have increased leptin levels which correlates with higher rates of obesity. Plus, Down syndrome people often have low muscle tone and hypermobility.
