eli5 Why do showers steam up bathrooms but a bath doesn’t?

Like the title says, why does a mirror fog up when taking a shower but not when you take a bath? Isn’t the water the same/higher temperature?

Showers are constantly running while baths stop. If you ran the spigot with hot water throughout the entire bath, it would also transfer heat to the rest of the room.

Surface area. Shower water is just as hot as bath water, but it comes out as millions of tiny drops. Evaporation is relative to the surface area. A bunch of small spheres have a much greater surface area than taking the same volume of water and dropping it into a tub.

It’s all about surface area of evaporation. If you have a 300L bath in a 6sqm room everything steams up
