eli5: Why do skin disorders such as acne or rosacea tend to affect predominantly the face?

I’m aware these skin disorders are not 100% limited to the face, but the majority of cases tend to be. I have both acne and rosacea, so I’m honestly curious. The other parts of my body are for the most part unaffected.

Well, a couple of reasons –

1. Sebaceous glands which produce sebum/oil, and can lead to clogged pores are most prevalent on the face, especially the T region (forehead, nose, chin).

2. We are more touchy of our face, finger tips carry micro organisms.

3. Face is always exposed to UV, pollution, and other flying creatures, unless you wear a helmet at all times. 😂

4. We use skin ‘care’ products the most on our face. And sometimes hands too, but hands are tough.

Acne on the back, due to sweat not drying too fast and people forgetting that it exists when bathing, is also quite common. But face is more visible and hence more talked about.
