If it is because they contain nickel, why do a large amount of manufacturers still use it?

Because they can’t prove it doesn’t

California Proposition 65 is the cause of the labels that say

>Warning: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Proposition 65 has a massive list of banned chemicals. If your product contains any of them and it doesn’t have the labels then the fines are massive

But there is no fine for slapping the label on every product regardless of if it contains anything in the list. If you cannot prove that your product absolutely does not contain anything on the list then the only safe choice is to include the label to avoid potential fines if it happens to have something bad
