I believe you meant to ask why strong ODORS hurt during an episode of headache.

With headache, there is strong sensitivity to sensory perception. So it is not just odour, but loud sounds, rough contact with the skin, gary and loud colours, pungent tasting things, all can worsen our experience of headache. The thing is that your nerves are already on the edge due to headache, any sensory overload from smell or touch or vision or taste may push the nerves off the precipice, meaning it may irritate you much more than having only a headache. The mind is already suffering the trauma of pain. An additional excitement from senses will make the matters worse.

Vice versa, softer and soothing sensation may help relax the nerves and mind.
