Eli5 Why do tires use air instead of solid rubber all the wsy?

Wouldnt a solid rubber tire do the same job with no risk of punctures?

You would need about triple the amount of springs etc. Rubber is quite dense so your wheels would be wicked heavy, also you would be bending wheels left and right.
