[ELI5] Why do we (and other organisms) like music?

It’s a bit of a fitness check. If someone/something has enough time and resources to make music, they have time to provide got ea family. Organisms that prefer the strongest singers will mate with those singers. Both traits, singing and singing appreciation get passed on.

Music is the ultimate pattern. And humans love to recognize patterns. Recognizing patterns helps us to survive. It’s one of our super powers.
