I see people spraining an ankle or something like that and then they massage it, why? And does it actually improve your condition from the injury?

Massaging an injury, like a sprained ankle, can help increase blood flow to the area and reduce swelling. It can also help break up scar tissue and stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid, which helps remove waste and excess fluid from the area. However, it’s important to be gentle when massaging an injury and to avoid massaging an area that is already swollen or bruised.

You’re promoting blood flow, breaking down scar tissue, and both of those things relieve pain and speed up your healing process in the right way. Because the bodies natural defense is to try to immobilize injuries with swelling. Relieving the tense pressure makes it feel much better.
