Eli5: Why do we say “ouch(or any other words)” immediately after feeling pain?

Does it reduce the pain? Or is it because of the experience of watching people react like that before? Or is it something different from my guesses?

I think its experience of people watching and learning its a vicarious reflex…as where you live when someone is hurt he/she says ouch but where i live people use different word by telling that word we signify a message that we are hurt or we are sorry for what happened…i hope you get notion of it even when we get angry or get offended mostly we abuse to situation or person on whom we are angry or offended by…abusing won’t solve the problem but people have associated that abusing would pacify their anger(in selective cases) we have watched and learn this too…sorry if i have made mistakes as English ain’t my first language and also sorry if it seems off-topic.
