eli5: why do we see condensation outside of car windows when its cold outside?

like cars are outside, temperature inside the car is most likely higher than outside. what causes condensation? like, I’ve never seen it outside of house windows, why cars are different or why it gets colder inside the car (if that’s the case)?

It’s not that the inside of the car is colder — it’s the windows themselves. The glass can be colder than the ambient outside temperature, causing condensation on the outside surface.
