As a kid I remember laying in bed with a stuffed up nose – that i would pinch and then blow. Hurt the ears…but you could breathe for a few precious seconds. Then it was over

Stuffy noses are caused by spongy tissue in the nasal cavities and sinuses swelling with blood. They’re essentially nose-boners.

Sneezing forces air through the nasal pathways with a lot of force. That can sometimes push the blood out of that spongy tissue, causing a momentarily clear nasal pathway. But the blood comes right back, causing the nose to get stuffy again.
