eli5 – Why does alcohol (broken down by the liver) make you need to pee (made by the kidneys)?

It’s broken down by the liver, but the byproducts are dumped into the bloodstream. The kidneys filter the bloodstream, removing waste molecules. They see a bunch of waste molecules and water, and that’s their signal to make more urine, filling your bladder, where the nerves signal you to go pee. The kidneys don’t care where the stuff comes from, that’s not their job.
