I’m trying “natural” treatments for my severe ADHD and started going to the gym, why does it help when it technically increases my stress levels?

Because the little bit of stress is offset by the rest of your body producing more chemicals that are better for you.

A well maintained body supports your mind a lot better.

Regulation. When you actually increase those levels and then they naturally decrease after the workout, guess what you feel? Stress relief.

Obviously it’s a bit more complicated than that in terms of biochemistry and what have you, which is way above my pay grade.

But that natural increase and then decrease that comes with exercise play a part of how you feel.

Plus the added bonus of having accomplished a task that gives you that bit of dopamine hit. You can feel satisfied you did something good
