eli5: Why does it get louder in a crowd?

I was at a soccer match the other day and was wondering why it got so loud when everyone was singing together. The same goes for clapping. If it’s only me claps, no one could hear it, but if the whole crowd claps, it’s can get extremely loud. Is there something like a sound mass that sums up or something like this?

Soundwave can be added and subtracted. It’s easier to visualize this by observing waves, they work in exactly the same way. Lots of little waves comes together to form a big one. That how huge waves in the ocean are formed. They all start out as a little ripple in the water and come together to be huge.
