This is probably going to be deleted for being too short, but it’s because “flu” (and “cold”) don’t actually refer to a single species of organism, but rather an organism that mutates rapidly and is different every “flu season”.
Your body already has the antibodies to defeat last year’s flu, but not the antibodies to fight this year’s flu. Of course, you can get a vaccination so your body can create antibodies for the new flu before you get it. That usually works, although the “flu bug” (virus) actually mutates during the flu season too, so it’s not 100%
If you’re wondering why no one has created a global antiviral that works on all viruses, it’s because viruses do a good job of mimicking our cells, and any treatment that kills all viruses may kill off our own cells too. Of course, someday, someone might find a way to create something (nanobots?) that can distinguish between the two
