Eli5: Why does rainbow appear still when the droplets who are making it accelerating towards the ground?

Light is scattered at fixed angles by all the raindrops in the sky. You only see light from raindrops which are in the right place to scatter light in the direction of your eyes. These are in a circle opposite the sun. Or to think of it another way, the rainbow is made up of light scattered by whichever drops happen to be in the right place at each moment.
