Eli5 Why does stimulants cause jaw tension?

I believe most people who have done a fair dose of MDMA have experienced the jaw tension and teeth grinding that comes with it. I’ve also experienced this quite a bit with amphetamines, including the medication i’m currently prescribed. When i abused amphetamine for a while, it was so bad that i broke several teeth. I wonder what it is about stimulants that causes this?

Okay, so you know how sometimes when you get really excited, your body feels like it’s ready to do lots of things? Well, stimulants are like a super-duper excitement for your body. They make your body feel super active and awake. But sometimes, when your body gets super excited, it doesn’t know where to put all that extra energy. So, it sort of squeezes your jaw really tight, and that’s why your jaw feels tense when you take stimulants. It’s like your body saying, “I’m so pumped up, I don’t know what to do with all this energy!”
