Wouldn’t it make more sense if the start of the calendar aligned with the start of a season and every season fell in consecutive months in the same year?

It’s just the way it has grown historically.
If we were allowed to totally remake how we subdivide time, things would look very different. However, remaking it now has so many implications on so many things, it’s simply not worth it
