Eli5: Why does the moon look different sizes depending on where/when you look?

Two main reasons:
– The moon gets closer and further away from the Earth as it orbits.
– The Moon Illusion causes the moon to appear larger when it’s lower in the sky, but we aren’t entirely sure why.
