Today when I was out golfing in humid 29C-32C weather, there were maybe two or three 10 second intervals (over 4 hours) where the sun made it seem like it was 45C for a few seconds. I have been in dry heat where it was 45C before, and it felt nowhere near as intense as this. What is the explanation?

Moisture/humidity amplifies the ambient temperature. If it’s cold and humid, you’re going to have heat wicked away from you like nothing else. It it’s hot and humid, your sweat doesn’t evaporate as quickly, thus internal temperature doesn’t decrease.
It’s why at 0C in Florida I’m fucking freezing and wearing 4 layers, but -3C in Chicago (when there’s no snow), I’m incredibly comfortable in jeans, shirt, sweatshirt, & sneakers.
