Eli5: Why does the sun sometimes feel very hot for a few seconds?

Today when I was out golfing in humid 29C-32C weather, there were maybe two or three 10 second intervals (over 4 hours) where the sun made it seem like it was 45C for a few seconds. I have been in dry heat where it was 45C before, and it felt nowhere near as intense as this. What is the explanation?

You either got hit by a pocket of exceptionally warm air, or experienced a break in the breeze and lost the cooling effect of a gentle wind
