eli5: Why eating something sweet hurts the teeth more than eating something else?

When I eat chocolate, it only passes next to my morals and the pain starts. Why?

This is only a thing if you have bad teeth, like weak enamel, cavities and tooth decay, gum issues. Normal healthy teeth won’t “feel”anything. Consult a dentist, and some good ideas include fluoride rinses, always brush before sleeping, cut out soda and carbonated drinks, etc
