I saw a reel on how african doctors will slap the baby for them to cry and i know for a fact that this is true and there must be a reason behind it but i just don’t get it
Crying isn’t actually necessary. I have seen a number of births where the baby comes out serene and pink up just fine. It is much easier to tell that baby is doing the breathing they need to be if they are screaming though and it does also help clear any mucus from their lungs.
