Eli5 Why is it so easy for us to tell the difference between a real voice and a recording of a voice?

For example, how do our ears easily discern that someone talking in a room is actually there vs the dialogue coming from a television is not physically there?

The one voice/audio that CAN fool my brain sometimes, is a baby crying. Whether it’s on the tv or through headphones, it makes me pause for a moment to listen.

Not sure if this is something only parents experience, or if it’s a natural phenomenon we all experience.
