eli5-Why is our skin colour on hand different from the rest of our body?

Heyo I’m asian so i recently noticed that there is like a separation between complexion of our palms and the rest of our bodies. Any reason for this?

The skin on your palms and feet develops differently to produce that durable, hairless, grooved surface that you need for extra grip.

The process also largely shuts off melanin production so darker skinned people still tend to have relatively pale palms and soles.
