Alcohol seeps into your ear where fluid-filled canals give you a sense of balance. Since alcohol is less dense than water, it sets up movements in the fluid as it tries to rise to the top. Naturally, your brain interprets movement of the fluid as meaning your head must be rotating.

So, surprisingly, this a problem of getting drunk that doesn’t involve the nervous system; the chemical is directly messing with one of your sensory organs.
