Water has weight. The deeper you go in water the more weight of water is pressing down on anything at that depth, increasing the pressure on the outside of your body. This pressure increases the pressure within your blood vessels, and this is one of the mechanisms by which your body gauges your blood volume. Since your blood pressure increases your body tries to reduce it by reducing your blood volume, via pulling fluid out of your blood. That fluid needs to go somewhere so it is dumped into urine.

The urge to pee when one is submerged in water is called **immersion** diuresis. It happens because of two main reasons: **low temperature** and **increasing water** pressure.

When you are in water, your blood vessels in your arms and legs become narrower. This sends more blood to your heart, lungs and other organs. Your body thinks you have too much fluid, so it stops making a hormone that helps you keep water. This makes your kidneys produce more urine to get rid of the extra fluid.

Also, when you are in water, the pressure on your body increases as you go deeper. This squeezes your body tissues and pushes more fluid into your blood vessels. This also makes your kidneys produce more urine.
