ELI5. Why is transparent glue not glass friendly?

I have been seeing a lot of adverts for transparent, waterproof glue which works on everything but glass. Since glass is not mentioned in the ads, I am scared to use it on a windscreen.

What happens when you use it on glass?

Depends on the glue, but it probably will do 2 things. First “transparent” glue isnt as transparent as glass is, so you probably wont be able to see through it like you would think.

Second it probably wont stick. Unless glue is designed for it, glass is really hard to stick to.
