Sorry if this is an incredibly dumb question. I remember it having something to do with the size of earth and gravity?

Gravitational pull works in the way that you’re pulled towards the center of a large mass. The large mass being Earth, you’d be pulled towards the center. So whether you’re standing in the South Pole, Australia, or a plane 50’000 feet in the air, you’ll feel as if you’re standing upright.
Even though technically there is no up/down, left/right as far as the universe is concerned.
