it’s the same.

h = b sin C. 1/2 ah =1/2 ab sin C.

( you used 1/2 bh, but the conections is more visible when you use 1/2 ah, you just need to ensure that you use the hight belonging to the side)

Why you use booth?

because sometimes the hight is not givin, you would need to use b sin C anyway to get the hight, therefor it’s easier to make it in one step, not two.

Because sometimes you have the lengths of the edges and the angles, but not the height of the triangle. As the saying goes, “there’s more than one way to skin a cat”.
