Eli5 why when you turn off the ac the house/car gets hot really quickly?

So we are in the summer and I noticed that when I turn off the AC it doesn’t take more than a few minutes, sometimes even less than that (especially in the car but also in the house) to feel that the house/car is warm again. why does it get warm so quickly?

Because heat transfer. You have a pocket of cold air in your house/car surrounded by a large mass of hot air. The overall temperature has to balance out. It’s the same as if you were to unplug your fridge, it won’t take long for the ice to start melting and for the cheese to smell bad.
