Well, it depends on what you call “Doppleganger”, there are plenty of people who look very similar but arent related.

But the human brain is REALLY good with faces, so good it sees faces where they aren’t (like clouds, or trees, or the front of cars, etc). Since we are social creatures our brain has to be really good with faces to remember who is who.

this means who people have to look very very very similar to trick the brain into thinking they’re the same person.

I have read that you will likely have 7 doppelgangers on the planet. but the likelyhood of meeting one is harder than most lotteries.

consider the world population multiplied by number of villages/towns/cities/suburbs for the odds.

Because the actual amount of variety in our faces is pretty significant and most people are very good at noticing these differences, especially about themselves.

When I was in Middle School we had a history textbook that we were all reading from and I’m sitting there minding own business and my friend starts laughing and he goes hey look at this picture looks just like you and I’m going yeah yeah yeah my head I’m sure it does thinking he’s just going to make fun of me and I look down in the picture and it’s some old lady who looks exactly like me except I was the 13 year old boy at the time
