Eli5: Would LED bulbs work for red light therapy in skin care?

Just something I was curious about – I see all these full blown led masks with red or blue lighting and it got me questioning what are different about the lights they use.

Would it work the same if you just plugged in a bunch of red led bulbs in your house and put them really close to your face?

As long as you are using a light with a wavelength between 600 to 900 nanometers close to your skin I don’t see why that shouldn’t work
