Removal of the breast means essentially removing a big chunk of flesh- depending on the basic size of the breast before surgery, there’s going to be a hole there, and it’s going to be at least as wide as the breast was.

Depending on how much tissue had to be removed, there could be a sizeable wound left that will create a pretty big scar.

When it’s a cancer treatment, they have to be sure to get ALL the tissue, all the lymph nodes, anything that could be harboring cancer cells. They can’t put the nipple back because cancer cells are commonly in the nipple area.

So that makes it very different from a cosmetic procedure like breast removal for trans men.
