ELIF: In the event of decompression of a space station/shuttle, what happens to/where do the gases go that are sucked into space?

Take a glass of water. Lot of water right? Let’s say that is the air inside the shuttle. Now, let’s take that glass of water and dump it into something big, like a basketball gym. The water spreads out and becomes thin. Now imagine that water keeps going until it evenly covers the ENTIRE gym floor. We wouldnt be able to see it anymore. The floor to us would be dry. That us what would happen in space. The gases spread themselves out so much that it is like they aren’t there at all.
