What are the benefits of having more displacement vs more cylinders and the configuration of the cylinders.
For example:
3 litre inline 4 cylinder vs 3 litre inline 6 cylinder vs 3 litre V6.

Couple other points not mentioned. Odd cylinder combinations like Audis i5 and Ford’s v10 basically get another piston firing per revolution which leads to a very high torque motor. More than a V6.
The stroke to bore ratio also affects torque and rpm
