Because people will still buy them. Industries don’t function on a system of moral conjunction; they are economic life forms that occupy a niche and simply do what it takes to survive. Some of them even evolve (did you know that Nintendo was initially a custom-embossing company in the 1800s for the Japanese equivalent of tarot cards, and just evolved as time went on?).

We use them in our housecleaning business.

Ok, they are only [technically called toothbrushes](https://www.thecleanteam.com/Speed-Cleaning%E2%84%A2-Professional-Toothbrush-3-Pack_p_20.html). I guess you could brush your teeth with them if you had to, but I wouldn’t recommend it. πŸ˜†

The short answer would be because they still sell. πŸ™‚

The longer answer is that many feel / still think a harder brush is better at removing food rests and is better at scrubbing the teeth clean.
