First Post Here – Does everything in life excrete a gas? When you think about the act of ‘smelling’ something, you’re usually not physically touching your nose to it. Does this mean everything that smells like anything in life technically lets off a gas?

Worth noting that smell is probably the oldest evolutionary sense. Smelling is just olfactory organs identifying molecules that enter the body. Fish smell in water, so it doesn’t have to be a gas. BUT, you are right, basically every living thing emits a gas of some kind.
